Organizational Context:

The position is located in the Development Agenda Coordination Division. The Development Agenda Coordination Division (DACD) is responsible for effectively mainstreaming the Development Agenda within the Organization. The DACD serves as the Secretariat for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), coordinates the implementation of the Development Agenda recommendations within WIPO, is the interface with external stakeholders, and promotes a better understanding of the Development Agenda and its benefits.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Development Agenda and works under the supervision of the Director of the Division.
Main duties:

The incumbent performs the following duties:

(a) Assist in the coordination and preparation of documentation for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP);

(b) Carry out research, draft reports, prepare documentation and compile information in support of the Division's work;

(c) Make arrangements and organize logistics for the convening of the CDIP sessions;

(d) Organize and assist in briefing sessions and other meetings related to the CDIP;

(e) Maintain the Development Agenda web presence on the WIPO web-site; and

(f) Perform any other duties as assigned.

University degree, preferably in IP, law, economics or a related field.


Relevant professional experience, preferably at the international level.


Knowledge of the available literature on IP and the interface between IP and development.

Good drafting, editing and proofreading skills.

Demonstrated skills in supporting policy making and research, preferably in the field
of IP.

Ability to work in a multicultural environment and good interpersonal and communication skills.

Confident user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the internet, and the ability to quickly learn new software; and

Organizational skills with the ability to work quickly under pressure and to respect deadlines, high degree of flexibility and adaptability.


Excellent knowledge of English; and good knowledge of French.


Knowledge of other UN languages.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
37, 202 USD
39, 439 USD (with primary dependants)
Post adjustment: 104.0 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
Additional Information:

- Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

- Please note that the salary is composed of the base salary (indicated above as "Annual/Monthly Salary") + the post adjustment. The post adjustment is designed to compensate the differences in living costs, thereby providing the staff with the same purchasing power at all duty stations. It is expressed as a percentage of the base salary.

-Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
